Making Cities Feel Like Home AdB in Action

Explore how ADB is shaping cities that truly feel like home.

Asia and the Pacific is urbanizing at an unprecedented pace and scale. More than half of the region’s four billion residents live in urban areas, and another billion are expected to join them in the next 30 years. Urbanization has fueled economic growth, but it has also resulted in infrastructure deficit, poor and inadequate urban services, mounting climate risks, environmental stress, and deepening inequalities.

At the heart of these challenges lies one of the most pressing needs—housing. Without safe, affordable, green, and resilient housing, cities—and people—cannot truly thrive.

The exhibit will highlight how ADB is tackling development challenges head-on, with adequate and affordable housing as a cornerstone of its vision. Guided by Strategy 2030 Operational Priority 4: Making Cities More Livable, ADB prioritizes investments that expand urban services, strengthen integrated planning and financial sustainability, and advance low-carbon and climate-resilient solutions, with adequate and affordable housing as integral to the integrated urban development approach. Its commitment to people-centered development positions affordable housing at the core—driving inclusion, equity, resilience, and sustainability.

ADB will spotlight practical and scalable housing solutions, showcasing both its portfolio and broader work to advance affordable housing and urban development across Asia and the Pacific.

But this exhibit is more than a showcase. As urbanization accelerates, climate risks intensify, and inequalities widen, collective action is essential. ADB’s participation in the Urban Expo is therefore a call to partnership, an invitation to governments, financial institutions, civil society, the private sector, academia, and cities and communities to collaborate, innovate, and invest in housing and urban solutions.
