Azerbaijan Urban Campaign 2026 launches to build momentum for WUF13
The Azerbaijan Urban Campaign 2026 (AUC2026), jointly initiated by UN-Habitat and the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, will engage communities, institutions and partners across the country on the road to Baku.
A launch event was held in ADA University in Baku on 6 October, World Habitat Day, bringing together national partners and organizations to introduce the Campaign and its objectives.
The Campaign aims to promote sustainable and inclusive urban development while celebrating Azerbaijan’s cultural identity, development priorities and long-term vision for liveable cities. It will serve as a platform for public engagement, policy dialogue, innovation and collaboration in the lead-up to WUF13, culminating in an Urban Week from 11 to 16 May 2026.
Under three thematic pillars aligned with the WUF13 theme, “Housing the world: Safe and resilient cities and communities,” partners are invited to organize activities focused on:
- Safe urban environments for all
- Climate adaptation and resilience
- Adequate housing, land and basic services.

Local institutions, civil society organizations, academia, the private sector, youth groups and media are encouraged to join the Campaign by hosting events – from urban debates, public art and clean-up drives to sports activities, exhibitions and community projects. Each event will help raise awareness, inspire civic engagement and build momentum ahead of WUF13.
AUC2026 activities will take place between October 2025 and May 2026, creating a wave of action that will culminate during Urban Week, just before WUF13 begins.
