Aparna Mehrotra is a development professional with 41 years of experience in the United Nations system. She has held various roles, including Director of the UN System Coordination Division and Senior Executive Advisor on Aging at UN Women. Aparna established the UN's first unified accountability framework for gender equality, now used by 74 UN entities. Her work on ageing addresses the demographic shift's impact on older women, securing important language in intergovernmental negotiations at the 70th session of the Commission on the Status of Women. She advocates for a holistic public policy approach to tackle challenges related to demographic changes for individuals, families, and countries. Aparna holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from Stanford University, a Juris Doctor (JD), and speaks five languages.
