Beatrice Karago

Ambassador Karago is a seasoned Kenyan diplomat and public international law expert with over 30 years of service. She is currently working as Deputy Permanent Representative of Kenya to UN Habitat, where she provides strategic leadership on Kenya’s engagement with global urban development and sustainable human settlements. A graduate of Law and Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, she also holds a Master’s in International Studies and advanced qualifications in Women’s Law, Legal Studies, and Defence Studies. Her career includes senior leadership roles in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and diplomatic postings in Washington D.C., Addis Ababa, Pretoria, and Nairobi. At UN Habitat, she has championed Kenya’s role as host, chaired key committees, and advanced global negotiations on housing and sustainable urbanization, while also participating in grassroots and civil society driven initiatives such as the Korogocho Material Recovery Facility and the Nairobi Rivers Regeneration Programme.
