Chitralekha Massey currently leads the work on the Rights of Older Persons at the OHCHR. Between 2020 and 2024, she managed political constituencies and partnerships on the Human Rights Economy and coordinated partnerships, engagement, and outreach for social justice within the same branch.
Previously, as the Regional Representative of the High Commissioner to the Pacific (Fiji, 2016–2020), she worked with sixteen countries to help governments and stakeholders protect and promote human rights. She also served as Senior Human Rights Adviser in Tanzania, Lead teams in Iraq, Nepal etc. Her human rights expertise includes street children, torture prevention, business and human rights, discrimination, climate change, youth engagement, strengthening police/military/judiciary, establishing national human rights commissions, and civil society collaboration. She holds a PhD and Master’s in International Human Rights Law, and a Bachelor’s (Hons) in Genetics.
