Claudio Acioly

Claudio Acioly Jr. is an architect and urban planner with over 40 years of experience across 45+ countries. Specializing in housing, slum upgrading, and capacity building, he has served as policy advisor, program manager, and consultant for UN-Habitat (former Chief of Housing Policy, Head of Capacity Building), IHS, World Bank, IFC, UNDP, EU, UNEP, Acciona Engenieria & others. He authored key UN tools including the Housing Barometer and the UN-Habitat Capacity Building Strategy 2020–2030. Acioly led projects in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Europe, and trained over 1,000 professionals worldwide. An experienced moderator and keynote speaker at global events including the World Urban Forum, he currently works as a freelance consultant & senior advisor. He holds board positions with the Center for Affordable Housing Finance of Africa, IFHP, GUD, and is a member of the City of Rio de Janeiro’s council. In 2024, he received the Title of Merit of Honours from the University of Brasília.
