David Dodman
David Dodman became General Director of IHS in September 2022, bringing over 20 years of expertise in sustainable urban development research from leading universities and research institutes. An accomplished organizational leader, he emphasizes applied research and real-world impact. David has served as a Coordinating Lead Author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and has spearheaded international research programs, advising governments and global organizations. His research focuses on urban climate resilience and informality. He has an extensive publication record, including policy reports, journal articles, and edited books. Before joining IHS, David was the Director of the Human Settlements Group at the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED). He holds a BSc from the University of St Andrews and a D.Phil. from the University of Oxford.
