Dorothy Baziwe
Dorothy Baziwe is the Director of Shelter and Settlements Alternative (SSA) in Uganda and a passionate advocate for inclusive and sustainable human settlements. With over 15 years of experience as a professional Social Worker and Urban Planner, she has led initiatives in affordable housing, climate resilience, policy advocacy, research, fundraising, and community empowerment, focusing on low-income and vulnerable communities.
Ms. Baziwe is recognized for advancing gender-responsive housing and urban development policies while strengthening collaboration among government, civil society, and development partners. She has contributed to influential research and advocacy on housing rights, urban informality, land justice, and sustainable urbanization in Uganda and across Africa.
Ms. Baziwe currently serves as Convener of the Urban Informality Working Group in Uganda and the Women and Habitat Africa Working Group under the Habitat International Coalition.
