Elbay Gasimzada

Elbay Anvar Gasimzada, Chairman of the Union of Architects of Azerbaijan, was born in Baku in 1948 and graduated from the Azerbaijan Polytechnic Institute in 1971. He worked in landscape architecture, urban planning, and rural construction design, later serving as Chief Architect of Baku (1989-2001). He authored over 150 projects, 80 articles, and 14 books, including leading the five-volume “History of Azerbaijan Architecture.” Gasimzada received major national awards, including “Honoured Architect of Azerbaijan” and the Order of “Glory.” He is a professor at the Azerbaijan University of Architecture and Construction, vice-president of international architectural academies, and participated in World Architects Congresses in Chicago, Barcelona, Lausanne, Beijing, Turin, Tokyo, Seoul, and Copenhagen.
