Eleni "Lenio" Myrivili is a global leader in urban climate resilience, serving as the Global Chief Heat Officer for UN-Habitat and the Atlantic Council’s Climate Resilience Center. As Deputy Mayor of Athens (2014-2019), she spearheaded the city’s Urban Resilience and Climate Adaptation Plan, securing €55 million from the European Investment Bank and leading its implementation. Her focus on extreme heat has garnered international attention, leading to collaborations with cities and organizations worldwide. Dr. Myrivili advises and serves on boards such as the EU Mission Adaptation, the Global Covenant of Mayors, and the World Economic Forum's Global Risks Report. As a pioneer in addressing the urban heat crisis, she is regularly featured by major media outlets including CNN, BBC, NHK, Al Jazeera, The Guardian, and The New York Times. She has delivered a TED talk, addressed the British Parliament, and contributed to the UN Secretary General’s Call to Action on Extreme Heat.
