Emma Nicholas
Singer-songwriter Emma Stevens, from Eskasoni First Nation in Nova Scotia, intertwines her music and activism with her Mi'kmaq heritage. Deeply rooted in her native language and cultural traditions, Emma celebrates the strength and resilience of her people by merging traditional Mi'kmaq themes with contemporary influences.
Her talent has taken her to international stages, including performances at major festivals and multiple United Nations gatherings, where she passionately advocated for indigenous rights and cultural preservation. Emma's impactful work has earned recognition from global leaders and notable artists like Paul McCartney.
In Fall 2024, Emma released a new single in honor of the UN Decade of Indigenous Languages called Voice of the Earth.
Emma is also a member of The EYM Project, a new collective of artists and activists dedicated to empowering youth through art and music.
