Inés Sánchez De Madariaga
Inés Sánchez de Madariaga is the UNESCO Chair on Gender, Professor of Urban Planning at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, and Chair of the Advisory Group on Gender Issues to the Executive Director of UN-Habitat. A global authority on gender in transportation, urban planning, and architecture, she coined the influential concept of the “mobility of care.” With extensive experience across policy, practice, and research, she has been a Fulbright grantee and a Visiting Scholar at prestigious institutions such as Harvard, MIT, UCLA, Bauhaus-Weimar, LSE, and Columbia University. Inés is the author of numerous publications, including Engendering Cities (2020) and Fair Shared Cities (2013), and has delivered talks in over 55 countries. In 2021, she received the Matilde Ucelay Award from the Spanish Government, recognizing her contributions to gender equality in urban planning and transportation.
