Jacky Wye Kan Chan Kin
Kan Chan Kin describes himself as an artivist. The desire to share creative solutions to societal problems such as pollution took life with his project "Trash to Music." Waste like plastic bottles and aluminum cans is turned into musical instruments. To inspire younger generations, he runs workshops in schools and has published a crafting book. He was honored by his home state of Mauritius for his contributions to the artistic and environmental fields. The island has been affected by flash floods in recent years, mostly due to inadequate land development planning and water drains blocked by pollution. At the core of his art is the desire to change the way we see trash as a ressource. A wish to make art accessible to all while preserving nature and musical traditions.
