Janica Aniina Puisto

Janica Puisto has worked for over 10 years in the field of human rights, sustainable development and migration in various organizations. She is currently in charge of coordinating immigration affairs and advancing the realization of child rights in the City of Loviisa in Finland. Previously Ms. Puisto worked as a Human Rights Officer at the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (2018-2025), including spearheading OHCHR’s collaboration with cities and the implementation of human rights at the local level. On migration issues, she led a team of Vulnerability Experts at the European Union Agency for Asylum in Greece, and she worked as a Senior Adviser at the Finnish Immigration Service in Finland. Her prior work experience also includes the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland. Ms. Puisto holds a European Master’s Degree in Human Rights and Democratisation.
