Jonathan Williams is a Partner at KPMG, leading the firm’s Global Cities practice and its Southern Africa Development portfolio. A Chartered Public Finance Accountant with 25+ year spanning UK and Southern Africa local government, development finance and infrastructure. His works spans financial structuring, urban credit enhancement platforms, transit-orientated development, and climate-resilient infrastructure across Africa, Asia, and Latin America – including Donor funded programmes operating across 20 countries. From Johannesburg’s informal settlement strategies to India’s urban infrastructure credit enhancement platforms, Jonathan’s practice addresses a central question facing the sector: not whether cities need housing investment, but why bankable deals remain so elusive and how institutional creditworthiness, planning risk, finance architecture, and physical climate exposure interact to create or destroy investability.
