Kalpana Viswanath
Kalpana Viswanath is a leading researcher and practitioner in gender-inclusive urbanization and the founder and CEO of Safetipin, a social enterprise that uses data to advocate for safe, gender-responsive urban systems. Safetipin operates in over 50 cities in India and globally. Kalpana led the Safe Delhi campaign in 2010 with Jagori, UN Women, and UN Habitat and served as Program Director of the UNTF-awarded Gender Inclusive Cities project. She has provided technical support to safe city initiatives worldwide and was a member of UN Habitat's Advisory Group on Gender Issues (AGGI) for six years. Kalpana is on the boards of SLOCAT, the International Centre for the Prevention of Crime (ICPC), and serves as Chair of Jagori. A prolific writer, she has published extensively in newspapers, magazines, and journals and co-edited the book Building Gender Inclusive Cities.
