Kalpana Viswanath
Kalpana Viswanath is a leading researcher and practitioner in gender-inclusive urbanization and the founder and CEO of Safetipin, a social enterprise that uses data to advocate for safe, gender-responsive urban systems. Safetipin has data partnerships in over 50 cities in India and globally. Kalpana led the Safe Delhi campaign in 2010 with Jagori, UN Women, and UN Habitat and served as Program Director of the UNTF-awarded Gender Inclusive Cities program and has provided technical support to safe city initiatives worldwide. She was a member of the Women’s Safety Committee Delhi, anthe mission on Safe City Indicators. She is Member Emeritus of UN Habitat's Advisory Group on Gender Issues (AGGI). Kalpana is a former board member of SLOCAT, and current Board member of several organisations including ICPC, Swayam and serves as Chair of Jagori. A prolific writer, she has published extensively in newspapers, magazines and has co edited the book Building Gender Inclusive Cities.
