Biography

Past President of the International Federation of Landscape Architects (2014-2018) and of the Landscape Institute (2004-6), Professor Kathryn Moore is the creator of the West Midlands National Park (WMNP) and Director of the international think tank, the WMNP Lab. She is leading the development of this new approach to transform regions and cities, organizations, policy, modes of governance and finance, addressing global challenges in the context of the accelerating climate emergency.  

Overlooking the Visual: Demystifying the Art of Design (Moore 2010) sets a new way of looking at landscape, putting it at the heart of the built and natural environment. The application of this research beyond the academy is an impact case study for the REF 2021, the WMNP was shortlisted by the RTPI 2021 for an Excellence in Planning Regional Award and she is a member of the newly formed Natural England Landscape Advisory Panel. She was celebrated by the Landscape Institute in August 2019 as one of the most inspiring women landscape architects in the last century.
