 Lance Jay Brown is the principal of Lance Jay Brown Architecture + Urban Design in NYC and a renowned architect, urban designer, educator, author, and curator. A Distinguished Professor and former Chair/Director at the Spitzer School of Architecture, CCNY, he is the recipient of the AIA/ACSA Topaz Medallion for Excellence in Architectural Education. He directed the Design Excellence Program at the National Endowment for the Arts and served as the Professional Advisor for the WTC Site 9/11 International Memorial Design Competition. He co-founded the Consortium for Sustainable Urbanization (CSU) and the AIA Design for Risk and Reconstruction Committee, leading the award-winning AIANY Post Sandy Initiative. In 2014, he was President of the AIA New York Chapter and contributed to UN Habitat III. Lance is an advisor, fellow, and frequent speaker on urban design, with published works including Beyond Zuccotti Park, Urban Design for an Urban Century, Waterproofing New York, and City for City
