Sarah Elsaid
Sarah Elsaid is a Circular Economy Expert at the African Circular Economy Network Foundation (ACENF), with over 11 years of experience in waste management and circular economy. She has worked on projects across Africa, focusing on waste management and the trading of waste as secondary raw materials. Most recently, she contributed to an Environment Defense Fund (EDF) project on climate mitigation through circular economy measures in the EU. Her expertise includes circular economy in industrial contexts, sustainable design, and city-level waste management policies linked to climate change. Sarah holds a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Ghent University, where she focused on waste management decision support systems for developing and transitional economies. She has published journal papers in Journal of Material Cycles and Waste Management and Waste Management & Research, focusing on mathematical modeling of the waste sector and indicator-based assessment methodologies.
