Taina Christiansen
Taina Christiansen is the Head of UN-Habitat, Lebanon. She oversees the implementation of a country programme that continues to respond to multiple urban crises, focusing on both normative and operational work, including neighbourhood upgrading, housing reconstruction, urban planning, local governance and development, mobility and transport, renewable energy, livelihood support, social stability, urban farming, public space and climate change adaptation and mitigation etc. Prior to assuming this role in 2019, Ms Christiansen worked at UN-Habitat’s Headquarters in Nairobi.
Prior to joining UN-Habitat, Taina served in two United Nations peacekeeping missions, in Mali and the Democratic Republic of Congo. From 2009-2013, Taina worked with the UNAIDS and ITC in Geneva. Taina holds a BA in International Relations and Politics from Mount Holyoke College, Massachusetts (USA) and a MA in International Peace Studies from the UN University for Peace, Costa Rica. Taina has one daughter.
