Ugur Ibrahim Altay

Uğur İbrahim Altay received BS in Civil Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture of Selçuk University. He completed his master’s degree in the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Selçuk University.
Altay, who started serving as the Mayor of Selçuklu in elections of 2009, was re-elected for the second time in 2014. He was elected as the Mayor of Konya in the elections in 2019. He has been re-elected as the Mayor of Konya in the elections in 2024.
He was elected as the President of the United Cities and Local Governments (UCLG) for the term 2023-2024 during UCLG World Congress held in Daejeon, South Korea in 2022.
In addition to his duties as the Mayor of Konya and Executive President of UCLG, Uğur İbrahim Altay is also serving as President of the Union of Turkish World Municipalities, Director and Vice-Chairperson of the League of Historical Cities, President of the Union of International Agricultural Cities.
