Mr. Vongthep Arthakaivalvatee is a seasoned diplomat and public policy expert in international relations, justice reform, and regional integration. As Senior Advisor at the Alliance of Sport (AoS), he oversees the Southeast Asia Sport and Youth Crime Prevention (SYCP) Initiative—a partnership with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Agence Française de Développement (AFD).
A former Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN, he led regional coordination across youth, sports, and disaster management. His career resonates with the New Urban Agenda’s goals of safety; notably, he led negotiations for the UN "Bangkok Rules" for women prisoners and was instrumental in developing the ASEAN Culture of Prevention. He is a leading advocate for ASEAN Vision--SDGs complementarities, driving the localization of the 2030 Agenda through regional frameworks.
At WUF-13, Mr. Vongthep emphasizes how sport-based interventions can contribute to safer and more resilient cities for vulnerable youth.
