Summary

The event is a space for dialogue to promote a new paradigm of sustainable industrial development, based on the proper management of the territory and the promotion of agglomeration economies, which supports the socioeconomic recovery process in the context of Covid-19, particularly in Mexico and Latin America, but with the potential to be replicated in other contexts. It is proposed to present the experience of Mexico in the development of the Prospective territorial-industrial atlas for investment attraction.

The Prospective territorial-industrial atlas for investment attraction complements top-down policies that favour national macroeconomic measures to reduce supply or demand shocks, as well as traditional economic approaches for economic recovery, which focus on industrial development on a national scale, without analyzing specific regional elements.

Objectives

  • Present an innovative proposal to attract investment and socioeconomic recovery in the context of Covid-19, based on a paradigm in which the proper management of the territory allows the local advantages of each region to be valued to promote sustainable development processes.
  • Share with different stakeholders the Mexican experience in the development of the Prospective territorial-industrial Atlas for investment attraction, the first step in building this paradigm, based on a strategy to attract investment to high value-added sectors and specific regions of the country that can enhance the development and consolidation of these sectors.
