Cities for Children and Youth, Resources to transform cities and slums

The Global Alliance Cities4Children is a coalition of over 25 organisations working together to transform urban areas, particularly slums and informal settlements, into safer, healthier, and more inclusive environments for children and young people. Since its establishment five years ago, Cities4Children hosts a comprehensive Knowledge Hub, which is a curated collection of publications, tools, practical guides, resources, and trainings that address diverse issues faced by children and youth in cities. This Hub is designed to support practitioners, activists, and local governments with easy search and filter options to find relevant materials by subject, city, or other criteria. Our Knowledge Hub features: - Guidance materials from member organisations focused on children, youth, and urban settlements - Relevant resources from other trusted organisations addressing similar themes - The Cities for Children and Youth Research Series, which includes publications highlighting challenges and innovative solutions that improve urban life for children and youth, especially in marginalized and informal settlements Through this event, various alliance members will present new research and practical guidance material focused on children and youth living in cities and informal settlements. We aim to inspire action by showcasing impactful initiatives and to foster stronger collaboration among researchers, practitioners, and stakeholders committed to equitable urban transformation. Event highlights include: - “Why Cities for Children?” — an introductory presentation outlining our mission and vision. - A guided tour of www.cities4children.org, spotlighting resources in the Blog, Knowledge Hub, and Cities4Children and Youth Research Series that specifically address transforming urban slums and informal settlements into inclusive, child-friendly cities. This central repository aggregates publications, research, and guides from our member organizations, offering practitioners and local governments a streamlined way to access targeted materials on slum upgrading, rather than searching across dozens of individual sites. - Panel discussion with alliance members and experts on practical guidance and solutions for transforming urban slums and informal settlements into resilient, liveable and healthy environments for and with children and communities
