Apply by 30 September to host an Urban Thinkers Campus
The Urban Thinkers Campus is an UN-Habitat initiative under the World Urban Forum. It provides an open, action-oriented platform through which urban stakeholders can exchange knowledge, build partnerships and develop solutions to some of the most pressing challenges facing cities and communities.
By bringing together governments, civil society, academia, professionals, communities, youth, the private sector and other urban actors, each Campus creates space for diverse perspectives and for local, national and regional priorities to connect with the broader global urban agenda.
UTC 10.0: Housing Matters
The current phase, Urban Thinkers Campus 10.0, is organized around the theme “Housing Matters”, recognizing adequate housing as a foundation for sustainable urban development.
Housing is closely linked to affordability, inclusion, land, basic services, infrastructure, climate resilience and quality of life. UTC 10.0 provides hosts and participants with an opportunity to explore these connections, share experiences and identify practical approaches that support the Sustainable Development Goals and the New Urban Agenda.
Each Campus should move beyond dialogue by identifying priority actions, commitments and measurable targets, supported by an action plan or roadmap. Outcomes from the global UTC series will contribute to a synthesis and an event at the fourteenth session of the World Urban Forum.
A Campus may include roundtable, lab, solutions spolight, debate, action day, as well as an optional urban journalism or cinema session. It may be held in person, online or in a hybrid format, allowing hosts to design activities according to their objectives, audiences and local context.
Why host an Urban Thinkers Campus?
Hosting a UTC enables cities and organizations to convene diverse stakeholders, increase the visibility of local initiatives and expertise, build new partnerships, generate innovative solutions with the potential to be replicated or scaled.
It also offers hosts an opportunity to connect their priorities and commitments with the wider World Urban Forum community and contribute to global discussions on adequate housing and sustainable urbanization.
