Doha Declaration highlights WUF13 as key platform for regional engagement

The sixth Arab Ministerial Forum on Housing and Urban Development (AMFHUD6), held in Doha, concluded with the adoption of the Doha Declaration, which explicitly highlighted the World Urban Forum as a key global platform for advancing regional urban priorities.

The Declaration encouraged Arab countries to participate actively in the thirteenth session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, recognizing the Forum’s role in reviewing progress on the New Urban Agenda and the urban dimensions of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

AMFHUD6 featured a dedicated session linked to the WUF13 theme, “Housing the world: Arab experiences and innovations”. The panel showcased approaches from across the region to address affordability, resilience and inclusive urban development, illustrating how local and regional solutions can inform global dialogue. Speakers underscored the value of WUF13 as a space to share, compare and scale these experiences, connecting Arab expertise with international policy and practice.

Throughout the Forum, WUF13 also maintained a presence in the exhibition area, where delegates engaged with Forum representatives to learn more about the upcoming session in Baku and explore opportunities to contribute to its programme and outcomes.

Together, the discussions at AMFHUD6 reinforced the importance of regional leadership in shaping the global urban agenda and positioned WUF13 as a key milestone for translating shared priorities on housing and sustainable urban development into action.
