Media accreditation opens for WUF13 in Baku amid growing global housing crisis
Convened by UN-Habitat and co-organized with the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan, WUF13 will gather heads of state, ministers, mayors, urban experts, civil society and the private sector to examine how cities can drive solutions for adequate housing, inclusion and climate resilience.
Today, more than 1.1 billion people live in informal settlements and slums, and over 300 million are homeless. Housing shortages affect not only the poorest, but also middle-income households. Climate change, conflict and humanitarian emergencies are accelerating housing loss and deepening inequality. With less than five years remaining to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, WUF13 will focus on how commitments can be translated into action to deliver adequate, affordable and resilient housing for all.
